I've stayed in Yelapa before in a suite just above this one in the same complex (different host), so knew what to expect. The place is basic but very cool with the open design, decently stocked with kitchen things, clean. Good wifi! Gorgeous views. sometimes: whales while you have coffee.
Check in was a bit frustrating, previously the other host had someone to meet us and bring our stuff up and find it (Yelapa is a maze!) you're on your own here. I didn't get a response from the host or the numbers provided to have someone help, but the good news is some very strong and eager guy offered to haul our suitcases for us and he did know which place it was. The instructions aren't great, so know to look for the gap between the two buildings across from the litte candy store at the top of the hill , and go down the probably 80 stairs to the very bottom. Lots of stairs (I knew that but it isn't clear) . Advice: just pack light for Yelapa, head towards the beach (you'll figure out the trails) and after the giant hill, you'll see the littl ncandy store and you're there.
I personally loved the crashing waves and there were fans and mosquito nets. Some basics like oil, coffee, tea were provided. There is a safe for your stuff too!
The other place had a deal with Garcia's to use their beach chairs and umbrellas, and that would have upped my stars here (no indication that was the case). But Yelapa has much more to do than the beach!
