This is a great house. Amazing location. The owner is responsive. Even fixed the hot tub heat w/in 1 day (though no refund for the day).
However – big disappointments too. The unit was not the cleanest, the hot tub was strangely sandy and they are loosing the war with sugar ants. The kitchen was downright dirty. However all that can be forgiven - especially considering the amazing location & layout of the home.
However, beware-the owner relies heavily on the reports of neighbors who, in our case, were extremely inaccurate. They reported that I checked out & had “4 dogs running in and out of the house and that you are not home“. After checkout, I was asked to “go back to the house and contain the dogs IMMEDIATELY!” If I had already checked out–how could I have 4 dogs running through the house?
While admittedly, I told the owner about (& only paid for) my 1 dog being in the home, at the time I booked the property there was only going to be 1 dog. When my daughter arrived for the last 2 nights of our 6 night stay, she did unexpectedly have to bring her 12 pound dog with her. I obviously paid for the second dog upon the owners request. However there were never 4 dogs.
Yes–we did leave the sliding glass door open in btw the pool & the family room b/c the weather was beautiful!! 68 & sunny w/ a breeze!! The HVAC system was off & this was not against house rules! While the 1 vehicle we brought was frequently gone, many times I was in the unit working-not that it’s the neighbor’s business either way. When we did leave the dogs in the home (not against the rules) we monitored w/ video cameras & there is no indication of damage as a result of this.
I write that to provide background as we were initially charged money for damage for which we were not responsible. While a portion of it was refunded after disclosing that we had video evidence to the contrary, we were charged because, as the owner emailed me: “Dogs were on some of the beds(against our house rules) and we needed to replace the sheets.” and in answering why they had to replace the sheets: “We needed to change the sheets b/c we had no time to wash and clean the sheets nor replace them on Thanksgiving Day as the stores were closed so we needed to use some that the PM had in his office.”
Whoa. Wait. What? Cleaners were there at 9:55am. Check-in for the next guest isn’t until 4PM. There was time to wash! and... REALLY disturbing if they were not planning on washing the sheets! Ewww!
