"We must have been upgraded to a water view room because I don't remember booking one. In any case, the view was stellar (I could watch that Ferris wheel at night for 30 minutes and not see a repeated light pattern), as was the rest of the hotel. The breakfast buffet offers an excellent range of Western and Japanese options. Housekeeping performed excellently and consistently, which is rarer than you might think. Nearby dining and shopping options were great, although many public transit options require a 10-15 minute walk. Taxis are easy enough, however."

"I had a wonderful visit at the Portopia Hotel. My room had all of the toiletries I needed plus a set of pajamas and slippers. When I ordered room service, the staff came to my room to take my order. I would definitely recommend this hotel as an American visiting Japan. However, it is on Port Island so I had to tax in Kobe."

"Really loved the location, in Chinatown, but still felt quiet. Close to stations, but we walked around a lot and found the location centralize to Kobe's sites. Free noodles at end of night was a really nice touch. "

"The place was closeby to good food options, shopping, and even to a Catholic church. The staff were helpful and responsive to queries. Hotel room was big enough including the bathroom with a tub and shower. We will look forward in returning on future trips."
