We are a group of 10, my wife and I, our two grown daughters and their husbands, and our grand kids ages 2, 5, 10 and 13. After a long (50 minute) drive from the airport in two cars, and a stop at Rum Point for lunch (and a flat tire - my bad), we arrived at Kai Conut, and were very impressed. This is the perfect place for a lot of quality pool time, a beach just steps away, and we couldn't have been happier!
By the way, for some reason all of the pictures I've found show the water kind of green, it's not. Very beautiful color and calm, perfect for kayaking. We stayed eight days, and the weather was perfect.
One thing I did that worked out, was to get a 36 quart cooler with wheels, and I packed it with frozen meat. Enough for five meals for 10, and six pounds of bacon! It was stuffed. No problem flying on SW and no problem (though it was inspected) at Cayman customs. Cayman has fine meat, but wow, the prices. We even brought the cooler home, filled with non-food stuff.
The kitchen comes well stocked with tons of spices, utensils and small appliances (although the waffle iron didn't work). We arrived on a Sunday, and the only place open was a tiny market called Chisholm's Grocery - it was open from 3-6pm. The next day we went to Hurley's, a good grocery, on Crewe road (next to a tire shop), and were amazed at the prices. Remember, multiply the price shown (Cayman dollars) by 1.22 to get USD. Oh, then I went to the liquor store next door, ouch. But, an adventure like this had to be well stocked.
Kai Conut - very comfortable, spacious, casual, relaxing and fun. The pool deck was a blast, very relaxing and room for 10 people to spread out. The hammock got used a lot. As did the kayaks & paddle boards, as well as the beach chairs on the water's edge, and my wife especially liked the covered area on the pool deck for shade.
Grandkids spent most of their time in the pool. They did gather wildlife and the only time we caught a lizard was when it got trapped in the porch.
My daughter, her husband and their 2 yr old, used the second master bedroom. I said it was like a separate apartment attached to the house. It's had a bath, couch, and it's own door out to the pool deck.
Ok, since I'm raving so much, why only 4 stars? The answer is that the property did need a little work. There were tiles on the pool deck broken, and a screen torn open on the porch. It's not perfect, but it's close. I wish I could give 4.5!
