The place was clean, but dated.
Game room was great.
So the cockroaches... I live in the country, so I understand cockroaches doesn't necessarily mean the property is unclean, it could simply be a result of the location, which is what I feel about this property. When we first arrived, approximately 10:00 pm on Friday, we found two dying on the bathroom floor. I picked them up and flushed them down the toilet, dismissing it as a fluke, it happens. However during our two night stay, we would go on to find a dozen in total and while I am reasonable and realistic, it was a bit much. My girlfriend was completely freaked out by it and wanted to leave, but this isn't really a location where you can just leave in the middle of the night a go to another hotel.
Host was empathetic at first, but then began to minimalize my concern, first telling me they couldn't be cockroaches because "they don't jump" (when it clearly jumped from the wall to the recliner I was in), then suggesting we left the back door open and they came in (we never left a door open). Host sent $50 refund which I felt was about half what it should have been for a $350 stay considering the disruption.
VRBO promised to escalate my concern and get back with me, but it has now been 13 days of me requesting an update with zero communication back.
Didn't want to leave a neg review, but don't want people blindsided. Host seemed she would have the house sprayed and I believe her. C+ rating.
