What I liked: Hotel is located in a good area next to a grocery store. I could walk to the University where we held our workshops. The restaurant is good. In general, everyone who worked there was pretty accommodating and welcoming. The restaurant staff were really nice and chipper but the service was very slow, and for some reason they had out cold cereal but no milk. The rooms are small but are in good condition. What I did not like: check-in took nearly an hour because the clerk could not figure out I'd booked online and pre-paid; there was no water out of the faucet/shower during my second morning; breakfast can be very slow (25 minutes to wait for an omelette and toast); can't comment on the wi-fi because no one offered a password to it.
The price point is much better than the 2 other good hotels in the area, so if you are counting pennies, stay here. It's okay. If you want consistency, you might want to look elsewhere. The other good thing is that in this location, you will not have a 5AM wake-up call from the mosque....unlike the other hotel I've stayed in while working in Machakos. So sleeping until 7AM was a big plus.
