5 Star ONLY by DRC standards - this should be clear on the booking. Don’t say you’re in international hotel and then not adjust your star rating to reflect international standards.
The AC in half the rooms we booked never cooled the room. The showers have broken tiles, shower drain covers, and mold.
The staff are always friendly.
The property is far off the road and the pool is beautiful, very deep, and very cold (refreshing). Guests are not discouraged from making rude remarks or gestures, which lessened considerably the enjoyable atmosphere. (I was properly and conservatively clothed.)
The pool house showers are broken - there’s water but it sprays out of the top of the fixture, not from the shower head. There are no pool towels. And when there’s a function, it’s pretty loud and guests smoke everywhere outside rather then a specific area.
On my send stay, the AC worked well, but the first stay was rough.
The food buffets… breakfast. The egg station is the only food served hot. They’re are about 20 other dishes that should be warm, but we’re always cold.
The lunch and dinner buffets were plentiful but you must love over cooked meats.
Ordering off the menu was better, and all options are VERY expensive for what you get. Very expensive for most areas of the world, crazy for the DRC.
It’s not safe to leave the property so come prepare to stay if you don’t have a local private vehicle, driver, and security.
3-1/2 stars at best
