Sent this complaint to Expedia, who had a response from the so called “hotel” who completely refused any form of a refund of compensation

I am writing to you to make an official complaint in regards to our recent booking and stay at Hotel Lily on ……..
The hotel is beyond unclean, disgusting, a health hazard and in need of complete demolition. I understand the star rating and some of the reviews reflect this on Trip Advisor and some of Expedia itself may have detailed some of this, but we went ahead with our stay thinking that the hotel may have made much needed improvements and changes. This was not the case on our arrival and stay.
As the complete hotel looked the same state, we did not complain to the hotel directly as knowing it would make no difference at all, looking at the rest of the hotel, corridors, communal areas etc.
We went elsewhere in the day and just managed to crash there at night (just about). I would expect even a budget hotel to be at least clean and safe for the people that are staying there?
Please find the attached photograph evidence of the hotels appearance and state! I am very shocked as a regular customer of Expedia that yourselves would be associated with such an appalling business/venue.
I would like someone to look into this situation and some sort of compensation be given to ourselves for what had been experienced.
