We stayed at Sangregado Lodge for two nights with our family of five at the beginning of August. While the hotel is a little out of town, requiring a car, we felt like we discovered our own magical and serene slice of heaven with a direct view of the La Fortuna volcano.
The hotel is conveniently located directly opposite the Hanging Bridges Park, which was on our list of places to visit. The only downside is that the hotel does not have an onsite restaurant. However, they offer an option to include breakfast, and they have arrangements with two nearby restaurants: one at the Lost Iguana Lodge, about 500 meters down the hill, and another across from the hotel near the hanging bridges. Having a car made it easy for us to access both dining options.
We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our cabin, which had two separate rooms with very large and comfortable beds, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and even a washer and dryer. This was especially convenient since it rained both days, and we ended up needing to do laundry before heading to the coast.
We loved our experience at this smaller, boutique hotel. It's quiet and not crowded, which was exactly what we needed. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
