We just came back from a 2 week stay at Villa Daphni. Although there were only 2 couples, we decided to spoil ourselves with this 5 bedroom villa for our first stay in Kefalonia.
From the initial booking to our departure, the friendly communication, excellent service and attention to detail has set this place apart from the rest. Fotini, the owner, has been very helpful in answering enquiries. Her staff have been amazing. George, the manager, is the sweetest and most generous man, who made us feel very welcome and special with unexpected gifts of his own vegetables and oil, and even a cooked and delivered meal one evening! Koula, the cleaner, did a great job too, as did Nick, the pool man. A big surprise was that the morning after our arrival, we had a visit from Christina to advise us of all the places to see on the island, which was incredibly helpful.
We felt very lucky that the villa's location is so perfect and the view is stunning. A 5-minute drive to Agia Effimia, 20-minute walk to the village of Makriotika, or 10-minute drive to Myrtos Beach. This is proper Greece, no huge resorts full of crowds in this part of the island, but also all the amenities required.
The villa itself has an abundance of thoughtful touches. Well-stocked kitchen, laundry, TV room and PC, as well as books and games - even sunhats! The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The towels are top quality and were changed regularly. We were delighted with our choice.
The memories of relaxing by the pool, with only the sounds of goat bells and cicadas, with the occasional peacock call, will stay with us forever. It was a fabulous holiday on an unspoilt island, with typical Greek hospitality. Staying at Villa Daphni was the icing on the cake!
