The boutique Hotel Rani Mahal did live up to the top ratings and reviews it has received .
My friends and I arrived in a Tuk tuk from the airport to be greeted and welcomed by Nisha to her beautiful Haveli.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, Nisha and her family were the perfect hosts. It felt like she was welcoming us into her home. Nothing was too much for her. She helped us organise trips, gave good advise on where to visit and even help organise a tailor for my friend.
This is a family business, and Nisha’s children and Husband were so helpful and gracious to us, it wouldn’t have been the same experience in Jodhpur without the help and hospitality they offered us.
Nisha and her family beautifully restored this 450 year old Haveli, with attention paid to every detail of the restoration, as she herself said, it was a labour of love. I particularly love hanging out in the foyer, it was so relaxing.
The rooms are well appointed and the bathroom spacious for two. The rooms we stayed in were air conditioned too. I would recommend rooms away from the streets if you are a light sleeper.
Nisha and her family are Jains, so the food served in the restaurant was purely vegetarian. As a carnivore, I must say, I didn't miss meat or poultry as the vegetarian dishes were so delicious – Try the cashew curry.
Please note that the Haveli is located in the old city of Jodhpur and is not accessible by car. You can get a Tuktuk from the airport or train station.
