On The Rocks is a beautiful property in a quiet area with deer that wander through as they please. The house is well decorated and well-appointed. Laundry room has a drying rack and sink in addition to the washer and dryer. No sheets were provided because of the pandemic - but the beds, pillows and covers were all clean. The house itself was clean/dusted. I forgot hand soap and Food Lion (both on 460 and at north of Bridgewater) were completely out. Luckily there was some on site we could use - although I would not rely on that. The house did come with dish towels, pot holders, and of course, the necessary kitchen items.
This house was perfect for teens because we adults stayed upstairs most of the time while the teens stayed downstairs playing ping pong, pool or just watching TV when we weren't on the water. The downstairs couch was very comfortable.
The upstairs deck was lovely and peaceful and the fire pit (while only used once) was great. Note: skewers for S'mores are located in a drawer in the kitchen).
The dock was a perfect place to watch the sunrise while relaxing in Adirondack chairs and drinking coffee. Two kayaks with paddles are on site. We had life vests with us, but there were several of those available as well. The dock is in deep enough water for swimming and is tucked into a cover out of the way of boat traffic.
We rented this place because we intended to bring our dog, but ultimately did not. The pet deposit was refunded without question. The house does not smell like pets, which can be a concern with a pet-friendly house.
Drawbacks - if they could be considered such are:
1) The distance between the house and "civilization". It's about 30 minutes to Bridgewater. Having said that, there is a convenience store 10 minutes away that has the basics. Mitchell's Point Marina (with a restaurant) is less than 10 minutes away. And, during non-pandemic times, Heath's Waterfront Grill is open in Mariner's Landing.
2) Downstairs is connected by a door to an outdoor/attached shed area. The downstairs had several unwanted guests (bugs), which I suspect came from under that door. No biggie for us - our boys didn't care. I think placement of a towel along that door gap would help if it's something that would bother your downstairs guests.
In sum, we would absolutely stay in this home again and would recommend it as well.
