The cabin was what we expected. This is a very cute cabin, but with issues. Little Bear Cabin has so much potential. We stayed three nights in September and had a bunch of fun. It sits on Keweenaw Bay directly across from the city of L’Anse. Very nice view. Not the swim spot as advertised. Nice fire pit, with plenty of firewood.
It is a small old cabin with very little counter space. The Kitchen and bedroom are all in one room. The fireplace is nice, but in the kitchen. The bathroom is very spacious. Anymore than two people in the cabin would be crowded.
The biggest thing that needs to be taken care of is the electrical. It needs to have an electrician go through the cabin and permanently finalize and repaired. Around the outside of the cabin, there is just too much crap laying around that should be picked up.
The cabin was dirty. Nothing serious, but it definitely needs a good hard cleaning. I would expect that in a rustic cabin, but not with this nice cabin.
The logging trucks coming down the hill from L’Anse on Highway 41, around the lower end of the bay and into Baraga are moving very fast. Make sure you put your blinker on way ahead of time. The cabin comes up fast and they will run you over. It is better to drive past and come back.
Like I said at the start, this cabin could be a gem in the Michigan UP, but needs some tender loving care.
All in all, the cabin suited our needs, a place to eat and sleep.
