「Lovely cottage with good wheelchair access. The owners provided 2 raised toilet seats so didn't need to take our own ones. Friendly, helpful considerate owners. Lovely views from patio & conservatory. The beds were so comfortable that we have decided to buy new mattresses for our home.」

「Lovely spacious well-heated house in beautiful countryside. We had a week of snowy weather which was heavenly. Edward, the owner was extremely helpful. He towed out some cars which got stuck in the car park by the house, provided lots of logs, replaced the washing machine which had problems and was generally a great help. This is a house for people who like old books and furnishings...don't go there if you want modern posh.」

「This property is wonderful for a quiet getaway, it’s beautifully decorated with lots of interesting things to discover and the kitchen is so well equipped, we could have easily hosted a 12 person dinner party! You definitely need a vehicle and there is no shop or pub in the village. We really liked the lack of a TV it was a plus. 「We stayed here as part of birthday celebrations for a big Roman history fan. It felt so special to stay right next to Vindolanda and to know that the Trust benefitted from our stay. The cottage is gorgeous, well stocked with some very kind welcome snacks and plenty of useful amenities. All the rooms are comfortable and the nearby pub is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking about booking.」

「Bit difficult to find initially. Worth stating entrance is opposite Causey Arch Inn. Once there, cottages are are lovely, clean tidy and everything you need for a short break.Walking to Tanfield, the railway on a weekend」
