Your Basecamp for Adventure at The Dogtrot in Dennis Cove
Steps from the Appalachian Trail, bordered by Cherokee National Forest, and within a short hike to Laurel Fork Creek, The Dogtrot is a refuge designed for both adventure and relaxation. Guests can enjoy on-property activities like fishing, swimming or playing in the creek, hiking, stargazing (with no light pollution), and even a game of ping pong. Spend the day outdoors, then gather at the picnic and hammock area by the creek or the timber-frame pavilion, complete with a massive wood-burning fireplace—perfect for al fresco dining or s’mores under the stars. Inside, you’ll also find plenty of board games and limited WiFi for unplugged fun.
This cozy yet spacious cottage comfortably sleeps up to three families and is best described as a modern “dogtrot.” The main section of the home includes:
An open living, kitchen, and dining space
A primary bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom
A lofted bunk room with 7 single twin beds + 2 folding beds with 6-inch memory foam mattresses
A full guest bath
A laundry closet
A screened-in porch—complete with a ping pong table—connects the main living area to the secondary section of the home, which offers two additional queen bedrooms connected by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.
With only five or so houses on this quiet dead-end street (and just one occupied full-time), traffic is virtually nonexistent, making it a safe and peaceful spot to unwind. Laurel Fork Creek borders the property, offering a natural playground where kids and adults alike can splash the afternoon away.
