From outside the hotel looks very nice with verandas that make it look like a New Orleans hotel. The lobby has lots of character and the restaurant was very good on the night we ate there. The hotel is very centrally located with lots of bars, shops and restaurants nearby.
So, why the poor rating? Well, there are no lifts so we had to hump our cases 2 floors up the stairs and then…the room was terrible. We were lucky to get a bathroom (apparently some of the rooms don’t have private bathrooms) but don’t think of bringing a cat to swing, or in the room for that matter. There was no tv, a small double bed in the corner, no hairdryer, no water, a chipped sink and bath, and no floor space for our cases. We have been travelling Route 66 for 2 1/2 weeks now using lots of quaint motels and even stayed in a wigwam - all of which had bigger, nicer bedrooms (and tvs). Sorry Weatherford Hotel, quaint with character doesn’t excuse small room and lack of basic traveller comforts.
