Disastrous checkin for grandparents with 5 kids. I reserved and paid for two, 2- bedroom suites to be told upon arrival that they had 1 available but would get me 2 other single rooms. No charge on the 3rd room. I explained that the children were 6-13 years-old with only 2 of us adults. I will skip the drama to say that we ended up in 2 rooms, 1 double suite and a single. If only they had alerted me that “construction “ had changed my reservation, I would have found other lodging. The Marriott made us pay for the single room and told me to check with Hotels, com about a refund on the other double room. (They charged us nearly the same price for the single.) And, yes, this was from the property manager.
As for the single room, the shower had a lovely glass system installed 8 degrees off level. If I had realized that before getting in, I would have stuffed a rag in the track. It took Olympic dexterity to keep the door closed and shower at the same time. Speaking of the Olympics, we didn’t get to watch them that evening as even the children couldn’t figure out the remote controls.
I travelled professionally many years. This experience takes the gold medal in disappointing hotel experiences.
