Fraudulent Listing
After I didn't get check-in information from the owner, and the owner did not respond to my message for that information, I contacted VRBO 3 times. Each time I was told that they contacted the owner and everything was OK, and that she would send the check-in information at least 24 hours before my arrival. That never happened. I got there, finally tracked down the owner in person, and was told that the unit had been rented to a permanent tenant for several months. The listing was supposed to have been removed. She had never been contacted by anyone from VRBO, and had changed her phone number several months earlier also. I had to pay for an expensive hotel room that night, and find a more expensive rental, on another website, to stay in for my 30 day stay. I did FINALLY get my VRBO charges refunded, but there was nothing easy or quick about it! And I was never offered any compensation for their mistakes!
