Getaway under dark skies

Great Location for Old Rag
House is just down the road from the Old Rag ranger station. Bed was very comfortable, especially after a long day hiking. Perfect for two people. Bring bug spray, the gnats in this area are pretty bad.

Fantastic Stay!
Comfortable, clean and peaceful! Cottage is a perfect place to stay while exploring the area. Jerry is one of the best hosts I have encountered, very thoughtful but respectful of privacy. He is available to help with suggestions to ensure you have the best trip possible. Would definitely recommend Jerry's place to anyone coming to the area and/or wanting to hike Old Rag!

Perfect place for Shenandoah
When I go back to the park, I will be staying here. Perfect location for access to Old Rag Mountain and the middle entrance of the park to drive north or south on Skyline Drive. The host couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly.

Charming cabin in a beautiful location
Very comfortable cabin, equipped kitchen, thoughtful touches. Big field to run your dog framed by Shenandoah. Host is so pleasant and responsive. Look forward to returning!

Cozy cottage
I loved staying at this cottage. Had everything I needed for my stay. Clean and comfy and the sunrises and sunsets were amazing. This is the place for you if you are looking peace and quiet. It’s about 1 mile from the Old Rag trailhead. The views from the property are amazing. I would most definitely stay there again.

Cottage Near Old Rag
We had an amazing time spending the weekend at the cottage to celebrate our anniversary. Jerry was a wonderful host. The property is beautiful with a nice view of the mountains. Very peaceful. We enjoyed watching the deer and stargazing at night. Would definitely recommend doing the old rag hike. We took an easier route to the summit using the fire road. Would love to stay here again if we are in the area. Thanks Jerry!

Perfect long weekend spot
This cottage was the perfect getaway for myself and my partner. Great spot to unplug for a long weekend and easy drive to Shenandoah National Park. We were in awe of the night sky as there is little to no light pollution and platform to star gaze on the property. Place has everything needed to be comfortable and Jerry is sure to be accessible if you have questions or needs. Would definitely come back again!

Perfect getaway for a long weekend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was very cute and Jerry was very responsive and helpful, leaving the light on for us outside since we were arriving at night. This turned out to be very useful since it was quite dark and Google directions thought the house was about 100-200 feet before the actual driveway. Our dog LOVED the field behind the house and we spent many hours wandering around, seeing fox and deer at different times. There is also amazing stargazing (especially coming from DC), we went outside each night just to look up for a little while. The location was great for escaping the city, but also only 15 minutes from Sperryville, which we really enjoyed wandering through. We did get a chance to take advantage of the proximity to Old Rag, but will next time. We did do some apple picking at an orchard a few minutes drive away. The wifi was good for streaming and for my husband to do some work, but I don't know that I would trust it entirely if the two of us needed to be on video calls at the same time. Definitely looking forward to a future visit!

Beautiful house and view
The house was so clean and pretty and the view of the mountains was fantastic. The owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely go back.

View!!!!
We loved our stay in Etlan! Jerry was a super host!!!!! Very nice remodel of old country home. Very clean and modern amenities. Plenty of linens! Best for a couple or maybe 3 people (pull-out bed). We took our 9 week-old puppy...oh my he loved the yard!! Rolled and rolled in the thick green grass. The view is so pretty from all windows. Very private, quiet area. 26 minutes to Front Royal, or 48 to Thornton Gap Entrances to Shenandoah Nat`l Park. 35 minutes to Luray! Recommend Skyline Drive and the Luray Caverns. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great Countryside Cabin

An awesome weekend getaway!
We were looking for a place to stay for a few days while hiking in Shenandoah with our dogs. This place was perfect, our hikes were only about a 40ish minute drive. It was within ten minutes to a small town that had a few very good restaurants and corner store. There were lots of other very nice wineries and breweries in the area as well. The house was perfect size for two and well taken care of. There was a large field for the dogs to run in and made a perfect stargazing place. The host was very easy to communicate with and even stopped by to say hello. We would stay here again!

Great stay in Etlan
Our family of 3 adults and a10 lb dog spent 3 nights at this lovely cottage. This home is off the beaten path. Nice and quiet with occasional “moo” heard in the distance . This home was clean with plenty of kitchen, bed and bath linens. We loved walking our dog around the property. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Jerry is a wonderful host. He offered plenty of suggestions on places to check out.

Great location in Shenandoah Valley
We had a great stay at Jerry's place. The location is great - the house very close to the Old Rag and Whiteoak Canyon trailheads. The house was just as described, had everything you could need for a long weekend stay, and check in was easy. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Well located charming country cottage
We had a great time at Jerry’s cottage. He was a friendly and welcoming host, dropping by to ensure we had everything we needed. The cottage was clean and has a nicely sized kitchen for cooking in if you’re looking to stay in. It took us 5 minutes to drive to the Old Rag parking lot, which enabled us to get an early morning start and a leg up on the crowds at the park. The surrounding area is gorgeous, and there are a lot of nearby towns and wineries for exploring/enjoying.

Great little cottage at the foot of Old Rag
The property was perfect for us and communication with the host was effortless and consistent. Jerry had great recommendations and saw to it that we wanted for nothing. It was an ideal "base camp" from which to explore Old Rag and the surrounding areas of Shenandoah National Park. Would definitely rent again!

Perfect Getaway
This cottage was absolutely adorable. It was just close enough to Luray to see the caverns and other events, as well as close to multiple wineries, breweries, and orchards. There was plenty of space for our large dog to run around outside and for the three of us to relax inside. The wifi was a little spotty at times, but it was a fairly stormy weekend, so it makes sense. Warning, if phone service is important to you, the only service you will get is through wifi until you go back into Sperryville. We didn't mind, the weekend was a nice break from technology.
