I booked a somewhat last minute trip to Mount Rainier National Park (about 45 days out) and this was the only property on the north side of the park, east of the Seattle suburbs. I was a bit hesitant based on reviews, I booked anyway.
Pros:
1) Location was the closest town to the northeast (Sunrise/White River) entrance to the park.
2) Cabin was clean, except for carpet stains.
3) Check in and out was easy via a lockbox.
Cons:
1) After booking with VRBO, the management company reached out with another contract to sign, which was a requirement to confirm the reservation. There was conflicting information (like the cancellation policy) which was confusing because you just never know based on the environment we're currently living in. The rest of the contract was redundant and seemed unnecessary.
2) It took multiple calls and emails to the management company throughout the booking and confirmation process.
3) The management company actually lost that signed contract, so a week before check in when I was supposed to receive arrival and check-in instructions, instead I had to make more calls and emails to prove I'd already signed it.
4) Although I'd read there's no wifi at the property, I was planning to rely on local cell service and my hot spot to access the internet. What I didn't know, is that this part of Washington there's very little - or more often times ZERO service. So the best thing for the property managers to do would be provide internet. With young kids back home, it was concerning that I couldn't even get a phone call while in the cabin. I had to drive a few miles into town to even get service. It was also a considerable pain when we couldn't even figure out where to eat or navigate to the park (or anywhere else). It's one thing to want to create an atmosphere where you can unplug for a while. It's another to intentionally limit access for real-life experiences emergencies. Investing in a simple internet plan would be a HUGE improvement to this property.
The stay worked out just fine, but I wouldn't stay here again without working internet.
