Quiet your mind. Rest & recover in this ranch-style house on 2+ acres with a walkout lower level facing the lake. Enjoy the rustle of the wind and lapping of the waves as you sit with your favorite beverage on the patio or the deck. Close-by gravel roads and/or a disc golf basket give you a chance to warm up for a big day. Deceptively lots of room, you can be as isolated or connected as you desire in this house.
The space
Only 10 minutes from downtown Emporia to the cozy rural neighborhood, this ranch-style home with a walkout lower level is nestled in the hill with both an upper deck and a patio facing a beautiful lake view. The 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bath house has plenty of room inside, while the 2+ acres provide plenty of stretching room outside. All the bedrooms have closet space for hanging clothes and the appropriate bedding. The 2-car garage has plenty of room for 2 cars, bikes, and gear, plus the driveway pad has room to park 2 more cars. Privacy and peace abound - even more so when the tree leaves are green.
As you enter on the upper level (ground level on the west side), the living room invites you in with a huge comfy couch, semi-private reading area, and a dining area. The dining table is perfect for talking, eating, drinking, and playing board games, and can expand from the current 8 to seating 12 people. Just around the corner, the contemporary kitchen is equipped for your culinary success – make it yourself or have it delivered – with a second dining area that shows the lake view, the field & timber, or your hottie on the deck. (Honey, please make coffee.) In addition, the kitchen has a pantry and is connected to the microwave room. On the upper level, there are 3 bedrooms (Impressionism, Post-Modern, Sunflower) and 2 full bathrooms. All the bedrooms have new, high-quality mattresses for dreamy sleep. The main bathroom has two sinks, a shower and tub, plus a sometimes-needed handrail in the tub (rough day eh?), with the bathroom primarily for general use and to be used by the Post-Modern, & Sunflower bedrooms. For the Impressionism bedroom, the semi-private bathroom is equipped with a shower (no tub) and a bidet. Access to this bathroom is available through the bedroom or a separate door from the microwave room.
On the lower level (ground level on the east), you can sit comfortably in the den watching TV or enjoying the scenery on the patio... I mean, er... the lake and timber. The queen sofa bed is comfortable with a new mattress and a special support to minimize the bumps in the wrong spot, allowing you to sleep (unlike past tortuous sleeping devices). The Dorm Room - simple and rustic for the isolationists of the group (tongue firmly in cheek) is available on this level - 2 queen-size air mattresses, dorm room décor, and a limited egress in/out. (No fire egress – old school.) A kitchenette & half bath are also on this level. The kitchenette is furnished with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine for brewed coffee, and comfy furniture for informal chats. Conveniently located next to the kitchenette, a large meeting room/sound studio (32' x12') is located in the lower level - allowing for formal meetings/chats with minimal distraction. Use the stairs up (or down, depending on perspective) inside the den (or outside on the patio) to access the kitchen or deck. Walking outside from the den’s outside access to look at stars/nature is a perk (sigh!) to behold. Wow, nighttime rocks!
The garage (& access to the house) is accessible via a keypad, operating one of the garage doors. Inside the garage and by the back door, wired controls will open/close both garage doors plus it's the location of the garage light switches. The spacious garage will securely house 2 full-size cars, bikes, or gear, while the driveway pad will allow parking for two more cars in front of the garage doors. For convenience/security, bright motion-sensor lighting is triggered during the night by any motion on the driveway pad, plus a turn-around spot is available to enable backing.
Enjoy our outdoors area punctuated by the trees, waterway, creek, and lake plus the open grass fields and uneven terrain. The 2+ acres invite you to be "out standing" in the field (or the ditch or the timber or by the creek or by the lake). I know the frisbee basket is always looking for action. The gravel roads and "mountain" bike trail are close. Check out the variety of birds aurally and visually - we have a couple of owls that like to talk to each other night & day.
This is our home. Please enjoy & have fun!
