We showed up a few hours early, as well drove all night, so we asked to check in early but no rooms were clean, so we checked into a different hotel.
When we returned after normal check-in time, the front desk receptionist (different person) told me that I had two reservations and I would be charged for the one that I was not using, unless I figured it out with Expedia. Then she tried to charge the card I used to book the room (book now, pay later). It was declined, and I said I usually only use that card to hold it, because I typically get asked at the site if I would like to pay another way. She told me to put my card in, but didn't tell me how much it was. So I asked her, then she complained that she needed to cancel the transaction to tell me. When she was done, she asked if I was ready now. After getting checked in and grabbing all our stuff from the car, we went up to our room. The room had not been cleaned. The room had garbage, clothing, and other issues. I complained to reception, and she got us a new room immediately, which was clean. The rest of our stay was fine.
However, this is the third stay we have had at this hotel with an issue of cleanliness each time (with complaints). We will no longer be staying there. I would expect that they would try to make it right like upgrade the room or something, but we were just given a new room.
