This house has stunning views and is very conveniently located just steps from the beach but if you are thinking about paying a huge sum of money to stay here like I did last week, let me tell you that until the owner decides to spend some of that money that he collects from people like me, the house desperately needs a refresh. The range/stove is so old they had to put labels on the front of the stainless steel because the writing telling you which knob does what has vanished. The washer and dryer must be from the 90's and I spent the week filling ice trays because they had no ice maker. Also, there is just one TV in the house which is located in the basement for some odd reason rather than the main room with the views. The ceiling fan in the main bedroom was broken and missing 1 of the 4 paddles. And when we wanted to shower, we had to stagger who went in when because there was never enough hot water. These photos of the bedrooms have conveniently removed the shades and curtains which may or may not have been in my fraternity house 30 years ago. We had to shove a hanger in one shade to keep it down at night.
And while I was excited about having Del Mar involved after reading the reviews above, they are not terribly helpful or knowledgeable. I immediately noticed upon arrival that the Wi-Fi speed wasn’t very good and soon discovered the reason was they had an enormous router which was clearly outdated. I had to wrestle with Del Mar to try and fix it because they insisted that everything was fine but when they finally replaced the router the Wi-Fi speed went up 1000%. Our first night we had two random fire alarms and I was told the alarms “Can be triggered by any sort of small things as they are extremely sensitive. It was likely humidity or spiders”. Super! They then came the next day and vacuumed the smoke detectors and when they left, they said the smoke detectors work but they aren’t connected to the fire department or ADT currently. Two days later I contacted Del Mar to ask for the status of the alarms and they casually said, “they’re fixed”. Good to know! One night I emailed the head of operations, and she responded the next day at 4:00. And when I got home, I received an email from the Del Mar founder encouraging me to email him directly with feedback on my stay. I did that night. 48 hours later the same people that I had issues with during my stay responded for him saying the founder was busy on weekends (this was Monday).
