We stayed for 5 nights in early June. Loved the property, the house is stunning, the game room downstairs is fantastic, beds are comfy, the deck and the lake are to die for - truly a gem. There were only a few minor things that, being a regular renter of VRBO/airbnb properties that could be nicer: tissues (I've seen this at other places - do we really have to bring tissues of our own? are they really that expensive or a pain for an owner to leave in the bathrooms?), garbage bags (we had to buy our own), a reference binder for the various things to know about the property, such as how the air conditioner works, how the coffee pot works, nearby recommended restaurants, grocery stores, cleaning/check-out procedures and times... all of this info is available in various places - maybe the rental agreement, or on the property description, or taped up somewhere, or if you ask Chris the owner who is pretty quick in getting back to you. But it would be awfully nice to have one spot to look this up, rather than having to search through my phone or laptop, or search around the house for it. It's a minor thing, but little efforts like that put places like this in the 5-star category in my book.
Two things to note about this location: 1st, there is no internet or Wi-Fi connection available. Chris was very upfront about this, and of course it does not say they have WiFi in their property description, but many people assume WiFi is by default in most homes. 2nd, the AC is not central - there are 2 big units, one on the main floor, one on the 2nd floor. For 2 of the days we were there, it was 80+ degrees. In order to cool the master bedroom, the unit on the main floor needs to turn one corner, go down the hall, turn another corner and go along a short hallway into the master bedroom (which has a ceiling fan, but it did not appear to be working). Using fans to direct the air there might help, but it means you sleep with your doors open. Upstairs, the unit is in the hallway - again, if you keep your bedroom door closed, that might lessen how much cooling you get. Because it wasn't that hot while we were there, I can't say how well the AC cools the bedrooms - it did a great job cooling the main rooms and kitchen though.
To summarize, this place is truly beautiful - kitchen was fully stocked and functional, the lake is as clean and beautiful as it shows in the pictures, this place is HUGE and comfy, great for large gatherings, and at a great price.
