I, my adult children, husband and grandchild rented this house for an extended period in early May. The location of the house was excellent and we did walk to Canal Park and back several times as well as take long walks on the beach. We were fortunate to be able to see the northern lights two of the nights that we stayed there by walking out to the beach after dark. Having the separate cottage for my daughter's new family was convenient, although I agree with other reviews that the cottage is quite rustic with low ceilings and an antique full sized bedframe that is very squeaky. If you plan to have family staying in the cottage, just consider carefully who stays out there, especially if any of the members of your group are tall or children.
One note about all the press regarding Kathy Cargill and Park Point: We did see many vacant lots that were surrounded by fencing as expected, but were surprised that it doesn't yet affect the overall ambience of the neighborhood. She sure has an opportunity to do something good and I for one would love to see her build some things that help the community there and in the greater Duluth area. Park Point is a special place. This historic house is a charming little gem there.
