Our family enjoyed many aspects of our trip! We had 10 people stay in the home; 5 adults (32-68) and 5 children (7-14). The hot tub, game room, and kayaks were a big hit, and we were pleased to find 3 kayaks instead of 2. However, access to the water is very muddy and stagnant. We found a boat “put-in” by taking Teal Dr (road before home; unaccessible by low-profile vehicles). We utilized that area to swim, kayak, and set out trot lines. A neighbor told us of a creek at the northernmost part of the slough with clear water and blue rocks (accessible only by boat/kayak). We ventured there in our kayaks, but the water level had dropped too low to access the area. The kids were excited to find several blue rocks in the yard. The fire pit was easily accessible and had an abundance of firewood available for use. The main deck was spacious and provided plenty of seating and the grill was very nice. Previous issues of holes in the deck have been remedied. The screened-in porch was also a popular place. The sleeping arrangements worked well for us and the kids loved the bunk beds. While we didn’t use them, there were trundle beds available. The home is nicely decorated and comfortable; the large laundry room was perfect for a secondary food storage area. The home was stocked with everything we needed and more. One thing we suggest supplying is a better can opener! We managed with the ones provided, but not without some difficulty! We had very few dislikes. No, the home is NOT on the lake! Rather, it is in a slough on the Cumberland River. This could be an issue for those wanting to bring a boat and have easy access to the lake. We had a little difficulty with cell reception (Verizon) and internet, but we found areas we could go to in order to make sure calls weren’t dropped and texts went through. The terrain would be difficult for the elderly or young children to walk down to the kayaks. At night, ensure coolers are closed and locked, and anything you don’t want eaten or explored is inside or secured. The raccoons thoroughly enjoyed a bag of boiled peanuts from our Yeti that was closed, but not latched! As stated previously, the home is nicely decorated and comfortable, but if the owners are looking for anything they can spruce, there were areas that could use some touch up paint. Dollar General was 15-20 minutes away. If you plan to spend time on the lake, we HIGHLY recommend Bumpus Marina, less than 30 minutes away and very easy to work with!
