Our week started out stormy, but Sheerwater has so many fun activities that we still had a great time. We relaxed in the hot tub and the billiards room got more than a little cutthroat! ;-) We played games on the big dining room table and even had room to keep a puzzle going on the other end. The fireplace in the conversation pit worked great on cold evenings. There was plenty of space to spread out in and all the bedrooms were very large and comfortable. Plenty of linens, including towels, pillows and blankets. No beach towels. We did wish the big patio doors were all clear so we could watch the waves more, and we felt the home needed a good deep cleaning.
After the storm passed, we enjoyed every minute possible on the beach. We went skim boarding and body boarding (bring a wetsuit or it gets pretty chilly.) We spent hours beachcombing for agates. Walked to the tide pools at fishing rock and saw starfish and anemones. Took the little trail to the top of the rocks and watched for whales while enjoying the phenomenal view. We even went clamming and crabbing in Siletz Bay (Ace Hardware has everything you need!).
We like to cook our own meals and were a little worried that the kitchen looked small, but it worked way better than expected. Tons of dishes, cups and silverware. Lots of pots and pans, but no skillet or crockpot. Some basic spices and supplies left from other guests. Very nice Weber Charcoal grill on the deck and match light charcoal provided.
