Our stay began with the owner calling us to tell us their cleaners were MIA and that we might have to change our own sheets...and it went downhill from there.
While they did find someone to clean and change sheets, we were super disappointed with the overall stay. There was barely any hand soap anywhere in the house. No toilet paper or paper towels upstairs. We had to hunt for them in the basement. There were no tissues or hair dryers. There was no laundry detergent...so the cleaners couldn't do any laundry and the pile from the previous guests was heaped next to the w and d. I'm glad we didn't have to wash any clothes. Sub par mattresses, bedding, and towels you could see through and/or were stained. There weren't any bath mats in the upstairs bathroom. They have a microwave, but all the dishes are plastic and not microwave safe. We had to heat food on napkins. They have a cute sign that says "Wine Time" but zero wine glasses. So we left him two for the next guests. And finally the grossest part of the stay was all the trash piling up in the garage. It was disgusting and smelled atrocious. You could smell it inside the house.
In terms of safety, the owner hasn't a clue. In Missouri, where summer storms are prevalent and older homes with power lines sometime lose power, he had no candles or flashlights. It would have been nice to be able to sit in the living room without holding our phones up like we were at a concert.
Lack of attention to detail abounds in this home.
