Hotel Claudio y Gloria is small and the staff is friendly. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and grab a bite to eat, this is your place. The room was small and minimally furnished-we had two full beds, a night stand, a wood chair and a small shelf/closet unit. The linens were clean and the towels were replaced daily. There was two bottles of water for us when we checked in. The bed was made for us daily.
The room itself was worn and dated, but functional and budget-friendly. The "toiletries" was wall mounted soap pumps in the shower and at the sink.
If you are a resort vacationer, look elsewhere. The tile flooring was chipped and dingy, making the room appear dirty. There are geckos in the rooms. The hot water in the shower comes from an on-demand water heater showerhead with sketchy wiring. There is no hot water at the sink. The monkeys and birds in the trees along the driveway are LOUD first thing in the morning. The bars and restaurants nearby can get kind of loud in the evenings, but even on Friday and Saturday nights, the noise dimmed around 11pm, which was fine for us. (The 7am marathon on the boardwalk on Sunday morning was a bit obnoxious though!)
The included breakfast is next door at Restaurante Donde Claudio y Gloria. It was good and served fairly quickly, with decent sized portions. I was able to drink the coffee black with sugar, which literally never happens anywhere!
We would stay here again, but we're very low maintenance travelers.
