We spent three nights with our family of eight adults. The property was just what we were looking for in a short summer escape. The weather was quite good, with the exception of some rain on one of our days. Regardless, we enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and lawn games. The canoe and life vests were provided. On the rainy day, we played indoor games which we brought with us, although some games and dvds were available.
The best item of note with this cottage was the amount of space it provided. The kitchen was more than adequate, plus there were two outdoor grills. Appliances, including a dishwasher, were large, and dishware, cutlery, and kitchen tools were plentiful. All eight of us could easily sit at the dining room table inside or the square picnic table outside. The five bedrooms and two full baths were terrific, because there were three king beds among them. Towels and linens were provided. Since it was a hot, humid time, we were very appreciative of the air conditioning. Given eight adults, there were times when we wanted to be together and times when we wanted to be apart. The sitting areas throughout the cottage were plentiful enough to allow that to happen.
As with most waterfront cottages, everything was not pristine. However, we have no real complaints since our expectations were all met.
The view of the Oneida River was very pretty, and sunsets were colorful. The campfire at the end of the day was a real treat.
Our host, Dan Childers, met us upon our arrival and made us feel at home. He quickly answered our one or two calls for assistance. We appreciate his hospitality.
Thank you very much for allowing us to review our stay. This property provided a fun, safe, successful home-away-from-home.
