The title pretty much says it - my wife and I had a great experience with our dogs at the house and in Cayucos. We’re certainly planning to return and look forward to it.
For context, we live in Santa Cruz and just a few blocks away from the beach in a very walkable part of town. And our house is very comfortable and a nice place to be; we’re grateful to live in a beach community. But sometimes you need to get away to relax (and not putter around the house and finish projects). And no way do we want to do that without our dogs.
The house is great - super comfortable and well-appointed. It’s actually nicer than the pictures. I wouldn’t want to be there with more than one additional couple and a kid, but it’s perfectly sized for that. If you cook, the kitchen is great, with all the kitchen appliances you’re likely to need. Seating, bedding, linens, bathrooms are all nice / comfortable.
The location is nice - quiet and very close to the beach access at 16th. If you’ve not been to Cayucos, it’s a nice and very walkable community. It feels like a much smaller and cleaner Santa Cruz. It’s a 15-ish minute walk to a decent, dog-friendly restaurant. And 20-ish minute walk to good coffee and another 5 to the pier. There’s a handful of dining and breakfast / coffee options.
If you’re coming with dogs, there’s nowhere at the house to sensibly or appropriately, uh, take care of business. So know that you’ll need to take a walk around the block when that needs to happen.
