"Umami is a gorgeous garden hotel! We loved our suites. The decor is just stunning. The staff is courteous and kind. Breakfast tasted amazing! We loved the rice and beans. The parking is minimal. However using bikes, a tuk tuk, or walking is the best way to get around this jungle beach town. Bring earplugs because the birds and other lodgings in the area may wake you up. As a Jamaican, I loved our culture mixed in. We loved Old Habour aka Puerto Viejo! We will definitely go back and stay at Umami...

"Overall hotel is comfortable, steps from the beach, convenient to shopping & dining. Front desk check in experience not good at all. Waited over an hour for room to be ready. Told previous guest had a late check-out and would let us know when ready. Waited in restaurant within view of desk repeatedly checking . More than an hour later checked again. "We loved having the beach and good dining very close. The grounds are beautiful and we saw howler monkeys, common black hawks and sloth right on the property. Playa Cocles is across the street with some major waves! Our apartment had a kitchen which was very convenient. It is close to the street and adjacent property, so not quiet. The only inprovements we would like are a replaced shower head and mitigation of the sewage smell (brief) near the stairs."

"If you want amazing hospitality and relaxing vibes this the place. The staff made it all perfect. We stayed for 4 nights and left completely relaxed. Don’t forget to visit the sister property they have a very nice pool. The only observation is the dining menu is always the same and very seafood forward. However they are great restaurants nearby. "
