We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach house for our last summer getaway before school started. We are a family of 6. 2 adults and 4 kids ages 3-12. The house had more then enough room for us. One thing I didn’t realize when booking this house is that it is 3 stories high. So you will be climbing stairs all day long.
You enter to the first floor where you find the living room, kitchen, 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom and one tiny room with a trundle. Then when you climb downstairs you get to the master suite and one last bedroom.
Then down another flight of stairs, you find another full bath, and the bonus/game room and laundry.
The house was beautifully decorated which I really appreciated. Every single detail was perfection.
The beds were comfortable, clean and had soft, pillows and duvets.
The gas fire places in the living room and master suite worked beautifully and warmed up the room in minutes. The house retained heat very well in these rooms.
It was a pleasure to cook in such a beautiful kitchen, on a Viking stove nonetheless!
The house has no outdoor grill. But it does have a griddle and small gas grill on the Viking stove. I was able to grill some chicken and fish for dinner, which turned out beautifully.
Although we loved the house, I did have some concerns, which I would like to mention:
1. There are No locks on any bedrooms or bathrooms. So it was very difficult getting any privacy. We had to teach the kids, If the door is locked, knock. But that didn’t always happen. Maybe bring some sticky notes that you can put on the doors to remind people to knock when the door is closed.
2. The pots and pans need to be purged and replaced. All the Teflon skillets were unusable as they were completely scratched up. So bring your own skillet.
3. The knives were horrible. No knife block. Just a few random knives which were not sharp. So bring your own knives if you plan on cooking.
4. No cling wrap or foil. So pack that to store away your leftovers.
5. The bonus room/game room was always cold. Even when we tried switching the thermostat to 72, it wouldn’t budge from 68. So I believe it was broken. It would be wonderful is the game room/bonus room has some sort of comfortable seating. Like a sofa or arm chairs.
6. The washing machine was tricky. The dial is broken. Thankfully I had almost the same washing machine years ago and knew how to operate it. You have to twist the entire dial underneath the plastic knob.
