Rockin’ Star Ranch is nothing short of a country oasis. Whether you’re coming from near or far, I promise you Rockin' Star is worth your time. We moved to the area 3 months ago from LA, and were referred here by a neighbor. Thought it sounded like the perfect staycation for Valentine’s Day weekend and it was! We’re grateful we got a couple relaxing days in before the storm from hell (yes, that one) more formally moved into the region shortly after we left. Despite the frigid temps, we were greeted and treated so warmly. John, the ranch host for the weekend, was extremely helpful, friendly, and kind. He made our stay feel like we were visiting an old friend. And from his stories and the pristine condition of the ranch, I have no doubt Darrell (the owner) is just as caring about everyone's experience. The cabin was rustic perfection. We felt nice and cozy indoors with everything we needed. There is a gorgeous communal outdoor kitchen + dedicated grill for each cabin too. We enjoyed Shooting Star’s comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, antique decor, and all the little touches that made us feel at home. After sleeping soundly, waking up to see goats and horses trotting just outside our window was such an endearing way to start the day. Over in the barn, we visited with the baby goats + horses. This was no average petting zoo, but a very authentic way to meet the animals. I really appreciated that we were never made to feel rushed, and neither were the animals - all of whom are well cared for, with both a vet + cowboy on-site. Between that and the picturesque scenery, at times it may feel like you’re walking on the set of a Lifetime movie, only less cheesy and the ending is totally up to you. Because it was so cold, we could only longingly admire the resort-style pool and huge patio space, so John took us for an epic ride around the property instead. We saw cows, elk, and even oryx up close (a giddy sight for my city self). We passed a fishing pond and idyllic "hang-out" spots, already imagining our return on warmer days. We were determined to enjoy a campfire - and we did! The large, sunken firepit is centrally located next to the pool, making for the ideal landing spot at both dawn and dusk. I could go on and on, but my summary is this: Life at Rockin' Star Ranch is life as it should be: a space to connect with nature and loved ones, and even with strangers who may become friends. Thank y'all for the memorable stay! Can't wait to return :)
