Austins only downtown bed and breakfast in the heart of the Historic Clarksville
Brava House is one of the original Victorian homes in Austin, built in 1889 by Minus Culver in historic Old West Austin near Clarksville, a central neighborhood with a unique character that is also on the National Register Historic District. Old west Austin was founded as an African-American freedman’s community in 1871. The property was originally owned by Texas Gov. E.M. Pease, who gave the land to his former slaves in 1863 as an effort to keep them as workers on his plantation.
We lived in Austin for 30 years and recently moved to Virginia. So when we made plans to return to ATX for the wedding of a dear friend, we hoped to find a place where our whole family could be together (including grandparents, parents, a 4-year old and a 1-year old)! And Brava House was perfect for us. We loved being in Clarksville where many of our friends live. And it was in walking distance of so many of our favorite places to eat, but for breakfast, we didn't even need to bring in our own favorite tacos, because Bryan and Sherrie prepared wonderful breakfasts for us. Everything was just right. Thank you!
