Earl is a responsive host, and I believe that he wants to make the place and your stay here as good as possible. Given that, I'm sorry not to write a more positive review. First of all, the plastic mattress covers make sleeping tough. The sheet slips around on them and the plastic makes the bed hot and clammy. Second, we did not realize that the larger bedroom would have three steps down to the bathroom. That is hard if you get up in the night. There is another bedroom on the bathroom level, but the bed flush against the wall makes getting up at night from there hard, too. Third, the kitchen is adequate, but the oven and refrigerator need a good washing. So do the walls and garbage can. Right now, there is a dingy feeling, but I think Earl will take care of that for future guests. On the plus side, entry was easy. Earl's directions were fine. The bathroom is clean. Having two sinks was great.
As for the location, it is not quiet. There are loud noises from neighbors outside of the building. There's nothing Earl can do about that, but the listing claims a quiet neighborhood. It is not. The building is historic, and that's fun. It's an easy walk up the hill to the parks and museums. And you're right next to 787 with easy access out of Albany to other places of interest in the area.
