"Conveniently located within walking distance from JR Wakayama and in front of the bus station, hotel is well situated for travelling to other parts of Wakayama or within the city. Hotel is pretty old and rooms are small sized. Bathroom is pretty compact which is typical of Japanese hotels. Do not get a room near the lift as walls are thin and can hear the lift moving up and down. Rooms are actually quite dusty as there were visible dust balls on the tea packets. "The room looks like it’s been water damaged and the ceiling and walls were bogged with cement. Staff were very nice but the property was very poor. I didn’t like the communal kitchen. I want to make a coffee first thing in the presence myself. "

"A very different experience for a foreigner, and one that I cherished as a student of Buddhism. If you aren’t adventurous, I don’t recommend it, and if you go, please be curious, open, and full of respect. The non-sleeping rooms will be very cold in winter, the food served is the food served, without changes available, there are rules about which slippers to wear where and what can be photographed, etc. If you’re interested in deep travel (versus hedonism), you will be gifted and changed....

"Everything was good, cleanliness, space, friendly & helpful staffs, location & etc. The only discomfort I had was the thin layer of futon mattress. The blanket was warm and comfortable but the mattress was very thin. Not comfortable to sleep on."
