The person at the check in counter said my card was declined. We left to find an ATM in order to deposit more money in my account. All three ATM's that service my bank do not permit deposits. We went back to see if the hitel would work with us. This person was rude, haughty, dismissive, uncaring and would not consider my offer to pay $ 500.00 cash for a $169.00 room.
I went back to one of the ATM's to check my balance. I had $235.00. I printed the receipt. The bill at the hotel was $196.00.
I am not sure if this is a new scam... decline the payment, cancel the room, charge the customer for not cancelling in time, and tent the room out again. What I know is we had to rent another hotel room as well as getting bilked out of this room. It may take some doing yet I definitely woll be reporting this to regulatory agencies.
