I love the Freehand. As a native New Yorker who now lives out of town it’s my go-to hotel for weekend trips and vacations. Booked a corner King this time around and it was wonderful! Great hotel!

We absolutely loved staying at freehand. This hotel was recommended to me by a renowned photographer. Beautiful interiors of the room the bed very comfortable. I will definitely be back. The restaurant is excellent. Great food and cocktails. Loved our stay.

Lobby is trendy and cool with good bars/restaurants; however rooms are tiny (no surprise in NYC) and feel worn in. Hallway smelled like feet, and I’m pretty sure someone was living in one of the rooms on my floor. Twice, towels were removed by housekeeping and not replaced, and my linens were not changed during my 5 night stay.

Nice artsy hotel with good food and nightlife options. Well located a couple blocks from Madison Square Park. However, it's incredibly loud (even for Manhattan) all night long.

The location is great and close to subway lines to get to midtown, lower east side or Williamsburg. The room I got was very small, I think they used to be dorms. The bed was fine and there was a desk to do work. Bathroom sink was very tiny so I had to put a towel on the floor when I washed my face as water would get everywhere. Overall it was simple and gave me a convenient location to stay since I was out a lot. The staff were super friendly and helpful! Great rooftop bar and cafe downstairs. I would stay again but may ask for a bigger room.
