The staff that I met were all courteous and helpful. But the hotel itself was a disappointment due to its poor state of maintenance, noise and room cleanliness. The bedroom floor seems only swept but not mopped and left bare feet dirty and gritty. Edges of the floors and walls all had dirt and fluff. Shower and toilet doors would not close and lock due to misaligned handles and locks that were held on by blobs of silicon. Taps, shower rose and handles were aged with build up of calcification. The wall mirror was old and had lost its silver backing In places. Towels were dingy and age stained but they did smell fresh. The large bed was comfortable and restful. Water was hot and the air conditioning did work well. There was no fridge in the bedroom. The included breakfast was simple Indonesian food but crockery often showed lack of proper washing. The hotel is suitably located overlooking the harbour and within a minute or two walk to a selection of restaurants and street cafes. Nearby is a large department store complex that has cheap prices but also cheaper quality products. About 800 metres walk away is a much larger and much more modern department store complex with a variety of high quality stores and restaurants. Taxis were unavailable in the area so be prepared to walk in the heat. The pool area at the hotel was immediately joined to the hotel’s dining room and terrace and offered no privacy whatsoever. I’ll stay in a different hotel next time I’m in the area.
